EMF Spectrum Charts

Our EMF  Spectrum collection, compliments of EMF Experts, provides three different depictions of the EMF spectrum all in one package, including permission for use (as is without edits or changes).

These are the spectrum representations that we use most with clients in order to quickly illustrate EMF, and because wireless is usually their biggest concern this chart helps explain the wireless issues in simple terms, creating a practical mental snapshot.

These charts include the various characteristics of electromagnetic energy, such as wavelength and frequencies, and include visual references to help place the sources of EMF where they occur in terms of their characteristics. it is divided into ionizing and nonionizing categories based on these characteristics of wavelength and frequency.  The regions of the spectrum are identified by their common 'frequency band' names, such as microwave, infrared, ultraviolet, gamma etc., a convention that was originally adopted to convey to size of the wavelength.

These design features make these EMF Spectrum charts easy to use and simplify electromagnetic fields to help everyone be better able to understand at a glance how to become more aware of their levels of EMF exposure.

Here's where you can download our courtesy EMF Experts 3-Spectrum package . This set of three different depictions of the spectrum include permission for your use.

  • One chart focuses on a visual depiction of the area of the spectrum where man-made Electrosmog is burgeoning - under 300 GHz.
  • The second chart depicts the entire known spectrum, its EMF frequency/wavelength characteristics and categories at a glance.
  • The third chart depicts a vertical representation providing finer detail of the mathematical values of EMF wavelength and frequencies.

What is the EMF Spectrum?

The electromagnetic spectrum is the range of frequencies (the spectrum) of electromagnetic radiation and their respective wavelengths and photon energies (since EMF can behave  both as a wave and as a particle).

The electromagnetic spectrum covers electromagnetic waves with frequencies ranging from below one hertz to above 1025 hertz, corresponding to wavelengths from thousands of kilometers down to a fraction of the size of an atomic nucleus.

This frequency range is divided into separate bands, and the electromagnetic waves within each frequency band are called by different names; beginning at the low frequency (long wavelength) end of the spectrum these are: radio waves, microwaves, terahertz waves, infrared, visible light, ultraviolet, X-rays, and gamma rays at the high-frequency (short wavelength) end.

The electromagnetic waves in each of these bands have different characteristics, such as how they are produced, how they interact with matter, and their practical applications. The limit for long wavelengths is the size of the universe itself, while it is thought that the short wavelength limit is in the vicinity of the Planck length.

Electromagnetic waves are typically described by any of the following three physical properties: the frequency f, wavelength λ, or photon energy E.

Gamma rays, X-rays, and high ultraviolet are classified as ionizing radiation  as their photons have enough energy to ionize atoms, causing chemical reactions.

Knowing the Spectrum can Keep You Safer from EMF

Exposure to the ionizing radiation portion of the EMF Sprectrum can be a serious health hazard, causing radiation sickness, DNA damage and cancer.

Radiation of visible light wavelengths ( specifically those waves lower than ultraviolet light wavelengths) are called nonionizing radiation since they cannot cause these atom altering effects.  However science is now studying the effects of nonionizing radiation and finding that it too is capable of cumulative damage, although by different mechanisms. Effects from DNA mutations, to disruptions of the Voltage Gated Calcium Channels within cells, to Interference with the Blood-Brain Barrier, to biological electrosensitivity generally, and  more.

The concern is that this damage is occurring due to high levels of exposure to man-made EMF, which is the fastest growing nonionizing radiation in our environment.  Man-made nonionizing radiation  is generated by sources such as wireless communication (cellphones, WiFi, etc) and electric power (powerlines, electrical appliances etc).

So, understanding the Spectrum, knowing what frequencies we are negatively impacted by, can help us identify sources that we can eliminate, or reduce our exposure to by using a number of protective strategies.  Visit the EMF Experts Classroom to learn more about EMF Detection and Protection training courses (consultant certification training or personal training, online and live).

"Awesome certification training!  I hit the ground running (with confidence) the day I finished the course, and my business has been built from the ground up based on the tried and true methods of a true EMF Professional that would have been far beyond me without this training."
   Ross Chambers, Toronto, Canada

"Electrosmog can be more dangerous to you than you think. I was electronically stalked by a cellphone hacker, Chris returned my SOS message within the hour and walked me step by step through how to protect myself right away. I went on to take his excellent training to learn how to protect myself from the many other risks of electronic pollution - I never realized how insidious EMF is!"
          Theresa, San Diego, CA

The Bedroom Sanctuary ebook guided me through everything I needed to know to finally eliminate and block the various sources of EMF in my bedroom causing my sleep disorders. Ah, to sleep perchance to dream - blissfully at last."
                  Chas Chavez, Texas

"This Certification Training is simply the best there is. I thought I would learn how to wave an EMF meter around and that training would be very American based, and instead I learned more professionally valuable, global-in-scope, and life-saving info than I ever imagined. I say 'life saving' because my wife, who took the training with me,  is convinced this training saved her life. Three words of advice: Take this training!"
            Omar Orillia, Australia
